Have you read the rules? indeed.
Information about your Character
"I know you're in there. I can hear you caring."
"I know you're in there. I can hear you caring."
Doctor, Patient, Nurse or Intern? Doctor
Name: James Evan Wilson
Age: 37
Profession: "Boy Wonder Oncologist" and head of the dept. of oncology.
Ethnicity: Caucasian
------
Personal Style: Our dear Jimmy is the sort of person rarely found without his pocket protector and his tie. He's quite content in slacks and a nice shirt, though he's been seen in the occaisional pair of jeans on the weekends.
Physical Appearance: The doctor is a man of average height, standing at a decent six feet, and is the picture of perfect health and hygiene. His nails are always clipped, his hair is always tame and his tie is forever in a perfect knot. The man is a fairly handsome creature in his own reserved way, deep-set dark eyes and high cheekbones giving him the kind of charm that make women who want "someone to take home to mom" swoon.
Scars/Tatoos/Piercings: n/a
Best Physical Feature: Wilson isn't the type to pick favorite body parts, but he is rather particular about his hair.
Worst Physical Feature: He'd most likely say his feet, if only because, well...who likes feet, anyway?
Picture:
--------
Habits: Wilson, on the whole, cares too much. Thus, he is often driven, occaisionally to the chagrin of those around him (namely a certain Mr. Greg), to help people, even if they refuse to acknowledge the fact that they have a problem. Hence, House's well-known "Detox Days," arranged by Yours Truely.
Likes: Cooking, his job, Duke Ellington, flirting, wit and sarcasm, piano, poker, professionalism, helping people.
Dislikes: Numbers, statistics, difficult moral choices, disrespect, being divorced, people taking potshots at his personal issues.
Personality:
As his polite, caring and concerned nature suggests, Wilson is House's antithesis. His opposite, but his friend, colleague and last confidant; a true Watson to House's Holmes. One would think that being polar opposites would make these two into enemies, but rather, it is because of their differences (and Wilson's sense of humor where others are losing theirs) that they are such good friends.
It has been said that oncology is one of the most difficult specializations; not because it is that much more complicated or complex than the other specializations, but because it is emotionally strenuous. After all, most of a cancer specialist's patients die, and it takes a certain type of person to be able to deal with that, day after day. Thus, the level on which James truly cares about others is evident in his job choice.
He is a rather complicated individual. On the one hand, he can be very flirtatious, often without meaning to be. On the other, he is very devoted to his wife [or, was] and would certainly never do anything to destroy a relationship he's happy in...unless there's someone else. As he says, "You'd be surprised what you can live with." Wilson isn't the type who likes to break rules, but he seems to makes exceptions in a few instances; when it is for the good of his patients, or when his uncontrollable emotions are involved. Thus, he will occaisionally go along with House's crazy ideas or violate all ethical guidelines to have an affair with one of his dying patients.
Biggest Personality Flaw: Weakness for women, emotional baggage
Biggest Personality Strength: Caring, friendliness

Is your character in general satisfied with their life? He's satisfied with his job...but beyond that, he hates being divorced and he has few actual friends besides House and Cuddy, so...not really.
Roleplaying Sample:
A random post from my site, Paradigm Drift.
They were taking this well, which was a relief. Hysterics were not Jin's cup of tea. “This seems a bit like it belongs in a fantasy novel instead of my life, ya know? I mean like—it’s just impossible. “ She'd nod slightly, thinking back to those first few days before anyone had come. The days she'd been stuck as a dragon, with no one there to calmly explain to her how to escape back to her human form; in a way it'd been both exhilirating and deeply terrifying. She'd felt like she was in a dream she was unable to wake from, somehow trapped in one of the stories she'd read as a child. A strange feeling...but Jin put it from her mind when Elle asked her a question. “What are the disadvantages? I need to know before I touch the rock.”
Understandable, logical...unanswerable. "I know it sounds improbable, but there really aren't any that I've observed. Of course, there is no manual for this, no guidebook for shifting...there is always a possibility of something happening...but there is also no way to know of it unless it does happen." She chuckled softly, nervously. "I suppose it's a bit of a gamble." After this, the short Chinese woman fell silent, content to metaphorically step outside the conversation for a moment or two, letting them work things out for themselves. As for going back to their lives before...Jin peered up thoughtfully into the treetops. She had to think; before what? If this was somehow genetic, which she truly believed it was...they had been this way all their lives. For them, there was no true life before this, just an unrealized potential. Ending up here, shifting...it was all just the result of a life-long lead-up, wasn't it? Nature, science has observed, does not make things out of whimsy. Things do not happen because they feel like happening. There is always purpose, reason, survival in there somewhere. After all, love, she thought to herself, is just an incentive to get you to produce offspring, a chemical reaction designed to block out the logic that separates humans from animals.
So what did this mean?
She looked back down at her weathered hand and sighed.
They might never know.

To quote the philosopher Jagger, "you can't always get what you want."
