She attempted to keep her bemused smile from planting itself across her lips, but she failed to keep the entire thing off, so really, it was just barely etched there. House was acting like a two year old that didn't want to do what he was supposed to. Interesting. She hadn't really expected him to act mature, but I mean really? Couldn't he just shut up and get it over with? Interns weren't that bad, or at least she didn't think. Maybe that was just because that she herself was an intern. She reached her hand into the pocket of her boot cut jeans, pulling out a tube of chapstick. As she removed it from her pocket, she realized that there was something that had tangled itself around the tube -a bracelet. She straighted out the string and read the beads. 'Aunt Zarah' was what the beads spelled out across the bracelet. She smiled, giving herself a silent memo to thank her niece when she got home. She placed the plastic beaded bracelet around her wrist before returning to what she had been going to do in the first place. She opened the cap on the chapstick, slowly rolling it over her dry lips, then smoothing it over them, making it look like she was puckering up to kiss the air or something. That would be odd if she were really doing that, but she did know friends who would do stupid things such as that.
As she returned the tube of chapstick to her pocket, her eyes turned to Kim as she spoke. Zarah's somewhat curled up hand went over her mouth as if she were about to suppress a cough, but in reality, she was trying to get enough self-control to not laugh at what had just been said by the woman. At least she was able to succeed in that, or else she would make herself look quite foolish and childish. She put her thumbs in her pockets of her jeans, causing the bracelet to make a small noise; she leaned against the wall gently and continued to watch the going-ons. She could somewhat understand why House didn't want Interns following him around, it felt about the same way as having some little kids following you around as you walk down the sidewalk, continually asking stupid questions like most children do. Still, she was tempted to ask him why he didn't just give up on this argument. It was pretty obvious that Cuddy wasn't going to change her mind anytime soon. She listened patiently, quietly studying over the other Interns. She might as well get to know them later on, too. She knew from experience that it was no fun to work with people you didn't really know. When you knew each other, you could crack little jokes here and there, sometimes even go to a few parties together. Okay, off the partying. Right now is not the time to discuss Zarah's life away from working, that could be saved on for any later turn of events that may bring up the topic. Was it possible that House would stop arguing with Cuddy anytime soon, because really, it was getting a tad annoying.

For some bizarre reason, Cuddy had somehow gotten the idea that House had, perhaps, grown up and was prepared to handle this situation like any adult should. He was anything but a kid nowadays - he was even older than she was, after all - and yet Cuddy often felt that she were babysitting him on a daily basis. Make sure the kid doesn't eat too many pills. Make sure the kid does his homework. Make sure the kid doesn't accidentally kill a patient while acting on a hunch. Somehow, she had thought that perhaps he had grown up since the first batch of interns had come to the hospital quite some time ago. She realized now that had been a foolish thing to think.
His speech about the interns might have been amusing if Cuddy hadn't hand-picked them herself, and had the young dark haired girl - Bellum, she mentally memorized - seemed to just amplify what he was saying about her. Cuddy sighed, massaging her temples with the tender pads of her index fingers. Kids these days, they were absolutely ridiculous. Didn't respect their superiors, didn't shut up - all they did was suck up to the person who they thought would benefit them most and tried to make everyone else look bad. What was the world coming too, honestly, in a world where there was no respect?
"House, shut up," Cuddy said calmly, giving him a quick, sharp stare with those big, bright blue eyes of hers. They were wide from the coffee she was pumping into her system, and while still heavily lidded they did not look as tired as they usually did. "I don't need to hear ridiculous exaggerations from you. You know you can't bullshit your way out of this. These interns are going to be your responsibility, and there's no changing my mind about that, you can bet. Wilson will help you out, but they're under your supervision."
"And you shut up, too," she said, snapping her finger to the Bellum girl, her eyebrows narrowing slightly over her bright blue eyes. "I hand picked you out of dozens of applicants, because I thought you were smart and would milk this experiance for all it was worth. But the very second you talk to a superior like that - and don't you say, 'Well, it's the truth,' because I don't care - with that snarky attitude, I regret bringing you here. Understand?" Cuddy finished, directing that comment to the entire room.
"Doctor House is your superior. I am your superior. Everyone in this hospital is your superior. I hate spunk. I hate sass. I hate attitude. And I can guarentee you that Doctor House won't like it much, either. You cross him and you cross me - in most cases. Understood? I want verbal recognition."

[Niiiice, I felt the burn from that one]
Kim knew it was coming before it hit. Of course she knew she was snippy, and it was a problem. And now that she needed some pain-killers from that tongue lashing, Kim knew perfectly well that her own tongue needed to be sewn to the roof of her mouth most of the time, like right now. She only said "Yes mam," in a respectful tone and then kept her mouth shut. It was better that way, and from the sound of it, things were going to stay that way. Strike one... She thought with a mental smack to the forehead.
Of course the energy was sucked out of her by Dr. Cuddy, so the only thing to do now was to just sit tight, shut up, and listen carefully. Kim kept her bright eyes directly on Dr. Cuddy, not wanting to see any sort of reaction that was raised out of the others in the room. Being verbally whipped was no fun, she had learned that quickly from her own mother. Now if only she had listened to her family about her smart mouth as well...hmm...some people just had to learn things that hard way, and Kim was sadly one of them.

Dr. House had somewhat accepted his fate allowing the vestiges of his pride to remain in tact. Giving up he frowned. "Cuddy hiring them just to piss me off will only make me want to piss you off more, how can you hope to continue such a vicious cycle." It was a latch ditch effort, when of course his pager beeped, checking it quickly he read on the simple message "Got a patient-Wilson." House ignored it putting it in his pocket, but it continued beeping a new message falshing across the gray surface in muted red, "She has a weird brain, mri shows anomalies- Wilson."
House peeked at his beeper again and groaned. This discussion would have to wait for another time as the lure of an unsolved puzzle once again lured him back into his office. "Interns, go to the clinic now. Tell Nurse Brenda there that you're working on a case for Doctor Gregory House. Say Cuddy okayed it."
Cuddy was worn down already and wouldn't protest a simple matter which would both get rid of the interns and get some clinic duty done. Maybe having more employees wasn't such a bad idea. They could file his papers and do other such things, all while staying quitely out of the way. Maybe his debt of clinic hours would be repayed sooner than he thought.
"I am going to my office," he announced turning around not waiting for Cuddy to dismiss him.

William had just stood there, listening to all the conversation and forming his own impressions of the people assembled in the room. Cuddy seemed like a fair person, but she was showing extremely well how strict she could be. Oh well, William knew how to deal with strict people. Just follow their orders and shut up.
Dr. House was very childish, in his opinion. Most Doctors seemed to be delighted, even in a minimal amount, to pass their knowledge upon a batch of interns. Gregory House seemed to dislike that idea for some reason or another. When he started arguing about Kim Bellum making a woman go in labor and stalking him around, Stanwood raised an eyebrow. Definitely, House acted like a kid.
Kim Bellum was, well, disrespecting her superiors. That much was easy to see. She had a sharp tongue, and an air of... superiority? Well, anyway, had William been in her place, he wouldn't have retorted to what Dr. House said, no matter how much of an exaggeration it was.
The other two interns hadn't really participated in the conversation, so he hadn't formed any impressions on them... yet. Then Dr. Cuddy started berating House and Bellum because they argued. Nice. Perhaps that would shut them up. And then, Cuddy told the Interns some... err... shall we call them 'rules'?
Well, one thing was for sure. Neither Cuddy nor House would tolerate Interns that didn't work, or argued with them or did anything that went against their orders... William Stanwood made a silent promise to himself that, even if the other Interns were kicked out for misbehaving, he would still be at PPTH, no matter what. He had worked very hard to get there, and he wouldn't throw it away.
As House left and gave his final indications for the Interns, something about going to the Clinic, Stanwood nodded as House left, then he spoke. "Well, I guess I should better head to the Clinic. Ladies, if you'll excuse me."
Without waiting for an answer, he turned around and left the room, all the while writing down something in a notebook he took out from his pocket.

Kim glanced over to Dr. House and then nodded silently before standing up to follow in Standwood down to the clinic. She mentally did a little brow wipe, glad to be getting out of that office before she got herself in more lectures. She paused for a second, smiling a little to Dr. Cuddy and Dr. House both. "Dr. Cuddy, Dr. House." Her words were calm, nodding her head to them both and then heading out of the door as fast as her legs could get her out of there. Kim glanced back at the other girls and gave them a little gesture to follow her as she followed Standwood.
When she was fullying out of the office and out of reach of listening distance, she sighed greatly and then lifted her arms in a stretch. "That was a lot more painful then it had to me. Me and my d**ned mouth." Rolling her eyes, taking careful steps towards the clinic to do whatever was ordered....without comment.

She just stood there, watching the scene play on with open ears, arms folded over her chest in a manner to show that she was already bored. She wasn't the kind of person that could stay in one place for so long. It just wasn't her. She was the type of person that had to feel, actually touch things, to actually be able to comprehend certain things. She was a hands-on person. It was already guessed by her that they were going to do nothing more than be slaves to the oh-so-brilliant House, just people at his disposal to clean up all his messes. It would be just like her cleaning up Hannah. Great, another child to clean up after. That was just what she needed. She straightened herself up as House gave his orders to them. First day here and she was already starting to regret coming if all she was going to do was what she always did at home in the first place.
She followed after Kim and finally letting herself yawn. "I would have had better fun at home watching my niece. At least it would have been more exciting, and there would be less arguing. Unless, of course, she wanted a cookie and I told her 'no'" she said, rolling her own eyes as she walked down the hallway. "I swear, if I'm stuck cleaning after another guy, I am going to go insane. At least House isn't as needy as my brother, thank God." she said joyfully, rolling her eyes in pure annoyance at what had just happened. "When I get home, I'm pulling out the alcohol, so maybe I'll be able have a little bit of fun." Yes, alcohol shouldn't be the answer, but tonight it might just be. She unzipped her purse that hung over her shoulder, fumbling through to see if she had any snacks. Her hand hit something box-like. She didn't remember having any boxes in her purse. She pulled it out, only to reveal that it was a box of animal crackers. Oh, goody. She was so lucky.

Kim looked over her sholder and smiled a little bit, glad someone had kept their sarcasm. "Poor Zarah, being stuck in a place with a bunch of sick people when she could be having loads of fun with her niece." She said with a mischivious grin. Her pride was injured, but her humor still had a small glimmer of hope. Rasing an eyebrow, Kim turned her feet about and started walking backwards in the mostly clear hallway, facing Zarah. "You're pulling out the alcohol at home?" She asked, her words making it seem like it was worst possible thing to your health that you could do. "If I did that and I was alone, that would be the time I suddenly realize that I no longer have a life outside of work and my lonely little place. Oh dear, dear Zarah, please let me save you from such a fate!" She said, chuckling a little and turning around again to fall into step with the intern.
"So yeah, we don't know one another, but I don't care, you are being ordered to come with me tonight and get a drink outside of your nice little cubby, and I also recommend that you have fun during so said time." Kim said with a grin.

"Yes, ma'am, whatever you say!" she said, mocking a soldier salute. Her fingers grasped the handle on her bag, resetting it on her shoulder as it had begun to slide down a little bit. She looked down at the box of animal crackers and couldn't help but smile. Why were they in there in the first place? She had most likely put them in there the day she took Hannah to the park. It was quite typical of her to do. "Cracker?" she asked, offering the opened box towards Kim. "They're awful yummy." She laughed softly, looking at the colorful box. "I'm not quite sure how long they've been in there, but they look edible... enough. If I get terribly sick, blame it on the crackers." She picked up one of the crackers from the box and examining it to see that it was a bear, or a lion. Ah, who cares. She bit off it's head. Yes, Zarah was an animal cracker be header extraordinare. She must be losing her own head with the way she was thinking. She finished eating the cracker, wiping the crumbs from her fingers onto her pants. Pants were definitely better than a napkin any day. Besides, who would want to open their purse back up and dig through it to see if there were any napkins in there? Not her.
"So, what do you think of House so far?" she asked curiously, brow rose as she watched Kim, wondering what she had to say about their 'wonderful and fun-loving' teacher.

"Oh, I will never say no to anything sweet or anything completely junk food." She said heartfeltly, reaching in and picking up one cracker with her fingers, smiling at a sugary elephant. Kim had just bitten off the head when Zarah mentioned something about them might not being so good, and she slightly felt her appetite for them drop a level. "If you get sick, then I'll be sure to blame it on the crackers. And if I get sick, I'll be sure to blame it on you." Kim spoke with a laugh on the edge of her words, popping the rest of the elephant into her mouth. They weren't really stale, so she wasn't really worried about getting sick. There weren't that many people who got sick from animal crackers anyways, unless they ate too many.
It was lucky that Zarah asked Kim about Dr. house after she had swallowed the cracker, because she might have choked otherwise. Giving her a baleful look, Kim sighed and threw her head back for a second before looking foreward. "I really don't think this is going to be an easy time at this hospital. Not that I was expecting one....but I also wasn't expecting a House." She said with a snort. "He's rude, crude, not unattractive yes, but his personality makes up for the completely. And he's good at dodging except for when it comes to pregnant women." Looking over to Zarah, she raised both of her eyebrows. "And that's all I've got from the first 5 or 10 minutes of meeting him. Your opinion?"
